Tarot Card Meanings: The Tower

I often get asked what are some of the worst cards in the tarot deck.  The one that immediately comes to mind is The Tower...hands down this is the one that gets my blood pressure up. The traditional meaning of this card is: Upheaval, Unexpected and or Unwelcome Change.  This card has come in my own personal readings before I went through a divorce and it popped up just before I lost a loved one. It can indicate great life changes and destruction for sure!  If you recently got this card and now I have you really worried, I want you to know that this card alone doesn't necessarily mean the end of the world.  This card does have a softer side.  The changes that happen can sometimes be for your own good.  They can usher in a better life than the one you had.  Let's face it, most people don't want change.  Sometimes the universe has to.....encourage us to move forward.  Often the universe will try more gentle means but if we don't listen then it will bring out the big guns.   For example let's say you have a job that you dislike.  You've been meaning to move on but you hang on because you are afraid to leave for fear of what you would lose.  If this job isn't for your highest good or where you should be, you might be fired or things happen in your life to force you to quit.  That right there is The Tower at play.  If you've had your own experiences with The Tower, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
